In a survey conducted by the Centre for Retail Research (CRR), British consumers were said to spend more money online than any other country in Europe. In a separate consumer survey* it identified that over 80% of British motorists have not yet discovered the advantage of the significant savings of buying car tyres online.

The key reasons for purchasing tyres online are lower prices, choice and convenience. The survey also identified that almost 30% of motorists would consider buying tyres online in the future. One of the factors which could have played a part in this decision is the escalating cost of owning and running a car evidenced by the rising cost of fuel.

The survey revealed that 30% of men and 22% of women would consider buying tyres online in the future. The key reasons for this decision are lower prices according to 89% of drivers, and 88% of those asked said availability of tyres. The ability to compare prices was considered as important by 82% of those surveyed. The option of delivering the tyres to a local installation partner was evaluated to be important by 74% of drivers. And 65% of drivers considered the security of purchasing online also important. Easy access to free information was valued highly as well by 66% of those questioned. All of these elements are key strengths of the online shop’ approach to selling tyres.

The survey also asked drivers what were the most important reasons for buying tyres online, apart from lower prices, and 83% said the range of tyres available and 80% said the ability to order at any time of the day or night.
