For most of us they are the cars that we dreamt about as children. We had posters of them on our walls or to put things in a modern context they were the wallpapers on our cellphones or our computers. We planned our careers so that one day we could own one, but in the meantime we took every chance we could get to be up close and personal with them.
These dreams were all about supercars and luxury cars. Our heroes drove them in the movies and business icons travelled to boardrooms high in skyscrapers in them. Whether you grew up dreaming of owning an Aston Martin like James Bond, yearned for the fighter jet inspired design of the McLaren F1, or wanted to be driven around the country sipping champagne in the back of a Rolls-Royce, everyone has their favourite luxury or exotic car that they always yearned for.
For some the dream may have come true but for most we simply want to get a glimpse of them, to imagine a life we could one day have. Whether you are a learner, an entrepreneur or someone who appreciates the craftsmanship or the performance, these cars are part of many people’s goals and aspirations.
The Daytona Group will be placing many of these dream cars tantalisingly close to visitors at the 2011 Johannesburg International Motor Show at the Expo Centre, Nasrec from October 6-16.
One of the major stars of the show will undoubtedly be the first full public showing of the awesome new McLaren MP4-12C. This work of automotive art and excellence will be in Hall 6 where visitors will be able to see the car that many regard as a spiritual successor to the mighty McLaren F1.
Thirty years in the making, the MP4-12C combines all of McLaren’s expertise in the world of Formula 1 to create a car that is as beautiful as it is powerful. Beneath the carbon fibre of the unique MonoCell design sits the heart of a true no compromise performance supercar. With 441kW and 600Nm of torque the few lucky owners will be able to experience reaching 100km/h in just 3.3 seconds, and if they are fortunate enough to own a very long airstrip they could reach a blistering top speed of 330km/h.
Fortunately the MP4-12C looks equally good simply standing still and it is expected to be one of the most visited and photographed cars at the show.
The Daytona Group will also be pulling out all the stops to take over Hall 10 where it will be exhibiting the Rolls-Royce and Aston Martin brands, both of which are legendary in their own right.
The Rolls-Royce stand will host the latest Phantom for those who truly appreciate the finer things in life. Also present will be the Ghost, which has already proved hugely successful for the historic brand and which encompasses all the hand built craftsmanship that has made the Spirit of Ecstasy such an icon in both the automotive world and the world of pure luxury.
The Aston Martin stand will also be a must see exhibit at the show. Whether you appreciate the power, beauty and soul of the vehicles or the classic nature of James Bond’s favourite supercars, this will be a rare opportunity to see the full range up close and personal. From the popular V8 Vantage to the awesome Virage, the blisteringly fast DBS and the practical four-door Rapide, each hand built Aston Martin is yearned after by appreciative fans the world over.
The Daytona Group will have yet more for automotive connoisseurs and enthusiasts to enjoy though. Whether you are a potential buyer or are keen to set yourself a goal for the future, Hall 10 will also contain a vast selection of exotic and luxury cars from the Daytona Pre-Owned stable.
The impressive selection will include Ferrari, Porsche, Bentley and Lamborghini models as well as Aston Martin and Rolls-Royce. There will be current models and those that have become icons of the automotive world over time and experts will on hand to help you choose which vehicle is best for you if you are in the market for something truly special.
So if you truly have a passion for automotive excellence and absolute beauty, then make sure you visit the various Daytona Group stands at the Johannesburg International Motor Show. It is sure to provide a highlight like no other.
