Sarel van Biljon is making Dakar 2013 Rally headlines with his performance on his E-ATV quad bike. The Dakar 2013 Rally is the first one for Sarel van Biljon. In his biography on the official Dakar 2013 website Sarel van Biljon had the following to say.
“The Dakar is a lifelong dream. I’ve always been addicted to motorsports and quads. I remember watching the first South African to do the Dakar on a quad, Cornel De Villiers. He was a bit of an inspiration. After winning the South-African cross-country championship, everything fell in place to do the Dakar 2013.
I’m fully committed to this project, competing in the Transanatolia and Morocco. I’m not doing the Dakar to finish it. I’m giving it a run. I’m not going to hold back. I want to be among the Top 5 quads. And it’s definitely not a 1 shot experience. On the other hand I’m not 100% sure of what to expect. My main concern is that lack of experience that could make me miss a way-point in the dunes. I’m not too worried about the dangerous side of the Dakar. I’m a lot more mature now. I don’t want to fall anymore. If I make no mistakes, if I have no navigation problems, I have a fair chance against the others. It’s a wait and see race…” by Sarel van Biljon
