Brigade Electronics to launch wireless camera monitor system at the Show

Brigade Electronics’ demonstration truck will be on display at the CV Show with its latest vehicle safety products including a new wireless camera monitor system.

Wireless camera-monitor systems have been on the market for several years but often with poor quality pictures caused by electrical interference from other vehicle systems. New digital technology has significantly improved the stability of picture performance and, following extensive testing, Brigade will launch its new wireless system at the CV Show. The system eliminates the need for suzie cables, saving up to two hours fitment time. A re-pairing button on the receiver allows for interchangeable trailers, making it ideal for multi-drops.

Also on display will be Brigade’s new generation Sidescan with improved reliability and accuracy. This is a four sensor ultrasonic system fitted along the side of a vehicle which detects cyclists and pedestrians in vehicle blind spots, providing an audible warning to the driver and an optional speech warning to the cyclist, “Caution, vehicle turning left”.

Eminox offers filter servicing advice at CV Show 2012

Despite the large number of vehicles affected by the London LEZ, compliance rates are high with many operators choosing to retrofit emissions technology to meet these new requirements. TfL-approved retrofit options are based on diesel particulate filter (DPF) technology. The specialist filters used in these systems need regular maintenance to maintain their low emissions.

Kathye Henderson, Eminox Marketing Manager says, “Full flow DPF systems trap particulate matter, and need a way of getting rid of it so they don’t become blocked. Systems are designed to regenerate during normal operation but incombustible residues and soot can accumulate inside the filter, requiring periodic servicing to remove build-up. If filters become blocked, it can lead to an increase in fuel consumption and permanent filter damage.”

Eminox systems are supplied with indicators to give an early warning of build-up in the filter. Checking the system’s warning lights is essential as the length of time a filter can run between services is variable.

Filters can be reconditioned and reused, thanks to specialist filter cleaning technology. Eminox uses the Xpurge system - a combination of water and compressed air. This method removes accumulated particles from deep within the filter structure and is more effective than conventional cleaning methods.

Master Driver CPC - the countdown has begun

Figures released by the Driving Standards Agency show that little progress has been made by LGV and PCV drivers regarding their Driver CPC Periodic Training. Of the estimated 9,187,500 hours that need to be completed and uploaded by the end of February 2012, RTITB has noted an estimated 36% deficit from where the industry should be at this time, showing that a vast number of drivers may not have even begun to plan their Periodic Training.

Since November 2011, RTITB has invested in marketing campaigns targeting the 40,000+ UK drivers and their employers to promote the benefits associated with planning and completing Periodic Training ahead of time and remaining safe and legal on the roads.

The new Driver CPC Directive cannot be ignored and, when implemented correctly, is an effective way in which driving standards can be improved and maintained in the UK. To support this, RTITB, the largest commercial provider of Driver CPC training in the UK, will be at the CV Show to raise awareness of the impending CPC deadline and promote the Master Driver CPC Consortium.
