The ‘How will you spend yours?’ competition, run by specialist insurance broker Footman James, throughout the classic show season generated almost 1000 entries and revealed that the majority of enthusiasts would spend the £5000 cash prize on another classic.
One lucky winner from Tamworth, Staffordshire plans to do just that! Classic car and bike enthusiast Robert Turner obtained a quote for his Matchless G80 CS at the Stafford Bike Show earlier this year and was automatically entered into the draw. Robert, who owns three classic bikes in addition to a 1966 Scimitar GT, will be looking to add to his classic bike collection with his £5000 winnings.
“I will try and locate the Vincent Comet 1953 which I sold 20 years ago so my wife could have a conservatory! If I am unsuccessful in buying it back I would love a 1993 Ducati 916 which is undoubtedly the classic of the future.” explained competition winner Robert Turner.
Robert and his wife Lisa show and ride their classic bikes for pleasure and are active members of the Tamworth and District Motorcycle Club.
“We are delighted to have presented the £5000 cash prize to a true enthusiast. Helping classic fans to fulfil their dreams in such a difficult economic climate was the main driver behind the competition. We hope to continue to support industry growth with a similar initiative next year, with the ultimate aim of encouraging enthusiasts to expand their classic collection or indeed, to start one! ” explained Footman James managing director Andy Fairchild.
