Continued sales growth in a shrinking market
Zwartkop, Pretoria – Sales of Chrysler, Jeep and Dodge vehicles in South African are bucking the downward trend in the market by showing an increase of 7 % to 538 units in September.
The year-to-date sales have additionally grown to 5 492 units, an increase of 16 % over the same period last year. And this is in a market that has shown significant decline over the past few months.
For markets outside of North America, Chrysler LLC’s third quarter sales were up 20 % to 62 516 units. For the month of September, sales increased 12 % to 23 016 units, setting a sales record for the best September ever and bringing the number of consecutive months of year-on-year sales improvement to 28. Year-to-date sales are up 18 % through September (176 829 units).
Chrysler SA’s best-selling model range remains the Jeep Wrangler which has seen considerable sales growth since the introduction of the new model which includes the four-door Wrangler Unlimited. Sales in this area have risen more than 47 % compared to the same period last year and the order book remains vibrant.
South Africa remains a Top 10 market in the International sales arena.
