Haymarket Consumer Media is delighted to announce that motoring journalist Chris Harris will join PistonHeads.com as a full time contributor in the New Year.

Chris’s ability to get to the heart of a car and articulate its strengths, weaknesses and context with utter clarity and sincerity have made him extremely popular with the readers of Autocar and most recently, EVO magazine.

Chris will deliver his verdict on all the new performance and super cars of importance to the PistonHeads community.  However he’ll also be using his expertise as a serial car enthusiast and buyer to talk about the beating heart of PistonHeads – the cars in our classifieds. In his years as an Autocar road tester, Harris was at the launch of many of the cars now being bought, sold and lusted over in our classifieds, and that expertise means he’s perfectly placed to identify the heroes and zeroes of the used car market and celebrate the cars PHers hold close to their hearts.

Additionally Chris will be blogging about his own fleet –he’s famous for putting his money where his mouth is in this respect.  He’s currently ploughing his life savings into running a GT3 RS 4.0, but his other cars reflect the broad tastes of PHers, spanning as they do everything from an E28 BMW M5, to one of the oldest Citroen AX GTs in the country.

Commenting on his PistonHeads debut, Chris commented  “I don’t know whether to be honoured, terrified or excited – maybe a mixture of the three would be appropriate?  PistonHeads.com is the biggest enthusiast community in Europe and it’s rapidly becoming a must-visit venue for anyone into cars. It’s a community I can’t wait to entertain: I’m looking forward to it all, from winding-out lumps of unobtanium to debating the finer points of ratty Jag XJ40s. Mine is a broader church than perhaps I’ve had the chance to demonstrate recently. Most of all, I want to have fun.”

Stuart Forrest, PistonHeads.com’s Publishing Director said  “We’re absolutely delighted that Chris is joining PistonHeads. Following on from the recent appointment of Dan Trent as our editor and the imminent relaunch of our classifieds platform, Chris’s appointment is a another sign of our commitment to providing our audience with compelling and engaging content about the cars they love, both new and old. We can’t wait to see him contributing to our community, and we know that our members will feel the same way.”

PistonHeads was launched in 1998 and acquired by Haymarket in 2007.  It offers its audience a unique mix of news and features, over 100,000 cars for sale, and a lively forum generating more than 10,000 contributions every day. It generates over 200 million page impressions per month from over 4 million unique users, and is the UK’s second largest motoring website (source: Hitwise, September 2011).
