The all new Chevrolet Cruze sedan features a design that combines European flair with American muscle-car influence for a final product that’s striking and aesthetically appealing. Due to be unveiled at the Paris Motor Show in early October, the car will build on the success of the Malibu and Cobalt in North America and other key markets.
“Chevrolet has always stood for expressive value and the Cruze delivers on that promise,” said Wayne Brannon, Executive Director, Chevrolet Europe. Distinctly Chevrolet in design and built quality, the Cruze will be available with a 16-valve, 1.6 litre 82kW engine and a 1.8 litre, 103kW engine featuring variable valve timing (VVT) technology on both inlet and exhaust sides for more power and better fuel economy. Both these engines are orchestrated by a five speed manual transmission. In addition, a new 2.0-litre turbo diesel engine developing 110 kW and 320Nm of torque will be an option along with Chevrolet’s first automatic six speed transmission in the compact car segment.
The Cruze will go on sale in Europe from March 2009 and in South Africa shortly thereafter.
