BMW Voted Coolest Car Brand and Coolest Brand Overall in Sunday Times Generation Next Survey
Midrand – BMW has once again become the classification of cool by winning more than one category at the Sunday Times Generation Next 2014 awards ceremony. The event was held last week at Monte Casino, Johannesburg, to recognise the brand preferences and consumer behaviour of the youth of South Africa. A repeat winner for the ninth time and fourth in a row, BMW received the title of “Coolest Motor Vehicle Brand” ahead of its competitors.
Even more exciting, BMW took top honours at the event for the second time, receiving the award for “Coolest Brand Overall” and in the process beating Coca Cola and Nike to the finish line. The motor brand also won first position as Overall Coolest Brand in 2010.
“We are thrilled to receive this accolade, which reaffirms that we are not only the leading provider of premium products and services for individual mobility, but among the most aspirational brands in the world,” says Mr Bodo Donauer, Managing Director at BMW South Africa. “This award bodes well for the future sustainability of our sales success and I hope we will be able to convert these young people to customers in the near future.”
With the survey now in its 10th year and asking the opinions of more than 5 500 South Africans between the ages of 8 and 23 on what they find the coolest, BMW clearly remains a firm favourite amongst the youth.
Conducted by HDI Youth Marketeers in conjunction with academic validation partner, Monash South Africa, the survey has become a local industry performance benchmark for top brands.
Earlier this year BMW South Africa emerged as the top selling premium car brand for the fourth consecutive year, and the seventh year out of the last 10 years, in the National Association of Automobile Manufacturers of South Africa (NAAMSA) 2013 automobile sales results.
