With two former class A champions at the wheel, Team Afrox BMW with Pirtek offers a strong challenge in round four of the Bridgestone South African Production Car Championship at Zwartkops Raceway near Pretoria on Saturday.

Cape Town’s Johan Fourie has taken to his new team like the proverbial duck to water and is currently second in the class A championship after wins at Kyalami and in Cape Town.

“I’m very happy with my move to Team Afrox BMW,” said Fourie.  “It’s a very professional team, I have a good friend and great driver as a team-mate and the BMW M Performance Parts 335i is a race-winning package.  This weekend we take our next step towards winning the championship.”

Van der Linde suffered a frustrating outing in an incident-filled race day in Port Elizabeth four weeks ago, only managing to score a meagre five points to add to his total and dropping from fourth to seventh in the standings.

“We have a bit of ground to make up this weekend and I am determined to put in a good performance,“ he said.  “I enjoy the technical Zwartkops layout and it has proved a good hunting ground for me in the past.  Coming off a successful test, I’m confident I can bag a big tally of points by the end of Saturday.“

Principal sponsor Afrox has full confidence in the BMW team.  “Our association with BMW and ADF Motorsport, which is now in its sixth season, is very valuable to us and we couldn’t be happier with the results achieved by Team Afrox BMW since 2008, which include the 2010 class A championship.  Etienne and Johan are both former champions and together with the BMW M Performance Parts 335i we believe we have the strongest combination on the grid,” said Nolundi Rawana, Brand Manager Communications at Afrox.
