The Universum Most Attractive Employer Awards acknowledge successful employer branding strategies, the most popular companies to work for across different industries, and the attractiveness of companies as employers. This year’s research surveyed a sample in excess of 65 000 student and professional respondents spanning the business, healthcare, engineering, law, humanities and sciences categories.

BMW Group South Africa led the sector annual rankings and associated trend reports across the business and engineering categories. Tertiary students who participated in the survey were attracted to BMW namely for its appealing products and services, while for professionals, it was mainly the financial strength of the company which ranked highly for the automobile manufacturer.

“The Universum survey is the largest of its kind in South Africa, providing in-depth quantitative and qualitative research and analysis on employer branding strategies. We congratulate BMW Group South Africa for delivering impressive results across the tight measurement criteria in the survey,” said Roger Manfredsson, Managing Director, at Universum South Africa.

The survey results, as determined by Universum Professional Research, are derived from an independent annual research survey that provides insights on sector growth, students and employees’ career preferences, as well as their perceptions of potential employers. The results are used by employers to measure their performance in attracting suitable candidates to remain competitive.
