Barons Volkswagen wins Dealer and Group of the Year award for Barloworld Motor Retail

Barloworld Motor Retail has done it again – scooping a major Dealer of the Year award.

This year it was Barons Volkswagen Pietermaritzburg that was bestowed the honour of winning the Volkswagen Dealership of the Year award.

And if winning the award as the top Volkswagen dealer in South Africa wasn’t enough reason to celebrate, Barons also grabbed the Volkswagen Macro Dealer Group of the Year award.

“It was a great reward for a lot of hard work from all our staff involved,” said Marius de Bruin, Barloworld Motor Retail Executive: Motor Franchises.

“Apart from the Macro Dealer Group of the Year award for Barons, the Dealership of the Year Award for Barons Pietermaritzburg was just reward and even more remarkable as the winning dealership has been under new management for the past year,” said De Bruin. The winning Dealer Principal, Kevin Pillay, only took over the reigns at the beginning of last year.

Three Barons dealerships – Barons Pietermaritzburg, Barons Durban and Barons Bruma – made it into the Club of Excellence, earning Barons the Macro Dealer Group of the Year award as well

“It was a great effort by the management team and all our staff,” a humble Kevin Pillay said, adding that he only came to Pietermaritzburg last year after working as financial manager and operations manager at Barons in Durban.

“The award was the result of the collective wisdom and team work of all our staff, the support of our customers in the community, the excellent support structures from Barloworld Motor Retail head office, and 12 months of very hard work,” he said.

Volkswagen sets targets for its 106 dealerships during the year across various disciplines of the business, including amongst others sales volumes and more importantly, customer service to all valued Volkswagen customers.

In order to be presented with the Dealer of the Year award, the winning Dealership must excel in all major disciplines of the business. The best performing Dealerships are invited into Volkswagen’s Club of Excellence, where the overall best performer is awarded with Dealer of the Year Status.

“Last year we set ourselves two major goals – the Dealer of the Year and the Club of Excellence, which is the top 11 dealerships around the country. I am very happy to confirm that we reached both,” concluded Pillay.
