Hummer was a brand of sport utility vehicles (SUVs) and trucks that was originally produced by General Motors (GM) under the name AM General. The brand was launched in 1992 and quickly became known for its distinctive design and aggressive off-road capabilities. Hummers were originally designed for military use, but the civilian models soon became popular with consumers for their rugged style and performance. In 1998, GM acquired the brand and produced several popular models, including the H1, H2, and H3. However, declining sales and rising fuel prices led to the discontinuation of the brand in 2010. The Hummer name and design have since been revived by Chinese automaker, Tengzhong Heavy Industrial Machinery, for the production of all-electric SUVs.
