Audi scooped three category wins at the prestigious What Car? Awards last night at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London’s Park Lane.
The awards are judged by a panel of journalists from What Car? magazine, headed by Editor-in-Chief Chas Hallett, who said “Audi is on a roll at the moment, and it picks up a hat-trick of awards this year: last year’s overall winner, the A1, is our favourite supermini, and the TT is still successful. It’s been around for a while now, but it’s still our favourite Coupé and Convertible.”
A1 retains its supermini crown The Audi A1 cemented its Car of the Year success in 2011 by being named Supermini of the Year for the second time. The What Car? judges described it as “still easily the best supermini on the market. It thoroughly deserves our Supermini of the Year Award for the second year running.”
OTR Prices for the A1 start at £13,420 for the 1.2 TFSI (86PS) SE model and rise to £21,810 for the 1.4 TFSI (185PS) Black Edition model.
TT Coupe is “truly special” The TT has topped the Coupe category for the sixth consecutive time at the What Car? Awards. The judges felt that “there simply isn’t another coupe that can match its blend of abilities”, and added that its 2.0 TFSI engine “gives amazing performance as well as flexibility”.
OTR Prices for the TT Coupe start at £24,070 for the 1.8 TFSI (160PS) SE model and rise to £33,390 for the 2.0 TFSI (211 PS) quattro Black Edition model.
TT Roadster The TT Roadster kept up the TT family’s winning streak with its first What Car? Award in the Convertible of the Year category. The panel agreed that “It’s a car that gets better with age, blending pace and handling with everyday usability and showroom appeal.”
OTR Prices for the TT Roadster start at £25,320 for the 1.8 TFSI (160 PS) Standard model and rise to £35,370 for the 2.0 TFSI (211 PS) quattro Black Edition model.
Martin Sander, Director of Audi UK, commented: “I’m delighted to find that accepting three awards from What Car? is one of my first duties as Director. The A1 has had an incredible launch year and is now confirming its status as the star in its segment. The TT’s unprecedented sixth award and its Roadster sister’s first award from What Car? are testament to their timeless appeal.”

The TT Coupe scooped an unprecedented sixth Coupe of the Year title, while the A1 clinched its second consecutive Supermini category win, and the TT Roadster was named Convertible of the Year.
