The ‘Audi Silver Arrow Awards’ is an awards programme that recognises outstanding performance in the South African Audi Dealer network. The Awards set the standard by which all Audi Dealerships are measured. The business pillars that are evaluated during this process are New and Pre-owned Sales, Customer Delight, Parts Sales, and Audi Financial Services Market Share.

The ‘Silver Arrow’ racing cars date back to the 1930’s when they dominated the legendary racing circuits of Europe. Through their many years of success, the Silver Arrows are cemented in history as pioneers of Motorsport. This racing era represents the pinnacle of excellence and it is with this spirit which Audi Dealers are measured and rewarded in the ‘Audi Silver Arrow Awards.’

The elegant Awards function was held at Turbine Hall in Newtown on Friday, 12 April 2013. The function also marked the official launch of the all new Audi A3 Sportback to the Audi Dealer network. This model makes an important contribution towards the growth path of the Audi brand. With more than 2.7 million vehicles sold internationally, it is a global market segment leader and an integral part of Audi South Africa’s growth strategy in 2013.

The theme of the evening focussed on various “Moments of Greatness” and featured many high-profile South African personalities who have cemented their place in history as being responsible for many moments of greatness.

Among the guests of honour, the audience was also treated to the musical delight of South African songstress, Lira, and newcomer to the industry, Chiano Sky. The celebration continued with an electrifying set by 5 FM DJ, Poppy Ntshongwana. All three of the performers are proud new Audi Ambassadors, with Chiano Sky and Poppy recently having joined the Audi stable as Audi A3 Sportback Ambassadors.

The core objective of the evening was to honour the Audi Dealer Network who have displayed unwavering commitment and confidence in the Audi brand. Among the award winners, the Avus Award category recognises Dealer Principals of the best performing Dealerships according to strict criteria, as well as Dealer of the Year, Dealer Group of the Year and the Vorsprung Customer Delight award.

The following Dealerships and Dealer Principals were recognised:

Category 1:

  1. Audi Centre Rivonia: Gina Wills
  2. Audi Centre Centurion: Memory Burger
  3. Audi Centre Sandton: Denton Thiele

Category 2:

  1. Audi Centre Port Elizabeth: Alan Taverner
  2. Audi Centre Airport: Bruce van Rooyen

Category 3:

  1. Audi Centre Richards Bay: Kirsten Hodgson

The coveted ‘Dealer of the Year’ award was presented to Audi Centre Rivonia. The stunning new Terminal Dealership in Rivonia opened for business on 1 December 2012. This new Dealership is the largest Dealership in Southern Africa.

There are two ‘Dealer Group of the Year’ awards recognising macro and micro Dealer Groups within the Audi Dealer network. A macro Group is any Group which owns a minimum of three Audi Dealerships, of which two must be Audi Centres (Audi exclusive Dealership). A micro Group therefore takes into consideration any Group with a maximum of two Audi Dealerships, of which one must be an Audi Centre.

The macro ‘Dealer Group of the Year’ was this year awarded to the Lindsay Saker Group under the leadership of Gert Koekemoer. The Lindsay Saker Group owns six Audi Dealerships in Gauteng and the Free State, including Audi Centre Sandton, Audi Centre Fourways, Audi Centre Airport, Audi Centre Bloemfontein, Audi Vereeniging and Audi Welkom.

The micro ‘Dealer Group of the Year’ was awarded to Audi Centre Rivonia’s holding company, Hatfield Motor Group under the leadership of Brad Kaftel, also the owner of Audi Centre Hatfield in Pretoria. This is the second consecutive year that Hatfield Motor Group has been recognised as the micro ‘Dealer Group of the Year’.

The final award in the Avus category is known as the ‘Vorsprung Award’, this year awarded to Dealer Principal Jannie van den Heever of Audi Centre Bloemfontein. The Vorsprung Award recognises those Dealers in the network that have achieved the highest combined Customer Satisfaction score (New, Pre-owned, Fixed Right First Time and After Sales).

“Audi South Africa would like to congratulate all the winners at this evening’s Silver Arrow Awards event. Progressive performance is an Audi culture which we have managed to entrench in the Audi Dealer network in order to accomplish our 2020 goals of Customer Delight and premium market leadership in South Africa. The winners tonight have displayed outstanding commitment to our cause and we are appreciative of their excellent efforts” said Ryan Searle, Head of Audi South Africa.
