The new Jaguar F-TYPE represents a return to the company's heart: a two-seat, convertible sports car focused on performance, agility and driver involvement. The F-TYPE is a continuation of a sporting bloodline that stretches back more than 75 years and encompasses some of the most beautiful, thrilling and desirable sports cars ever built. Joining the XK convertible and coupe models, the new F-TYPE provides Jaguar with a broader line of sports and GT models.

A true two-seat sports car, the all-new Jaguar F-TYPE Convertible is equipped with a modern, lightweight soft top that, when lowered, serves as its own tonneau cover. This not only provides a weight savings, but also improves packaging and contributes to the car's low center of gravity for greater agility. The top can be fully raised or lowered in just 12 seconds at speeds of up to 50 km/h. Its multi-layer construction includes a Thinsulate® lining for optimal thermal and sound-insulating properties.

The F-TYPE Coupe embodies the uncompromised design vision of the stunning Jaguar C-X16 concept sports coupe that debuted at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show, its dramatic cabin-rearward stance being defined by three heartlines. The first two heartlines - shared with F-TYPE Convertible - form the muscular front and rear wings, the third heartline being the sweeping Coupe roof profile which provides an unbroken silhouette while emphasizing the visual drama of the tapered cabin sitting between powerful rear haunches.

Visual appeal is fundamental to Jaguar and the F-TYPE Coupe builds on the design of the stunning C-X16 concept sports Coupe and the F-TYPE Convertible which won the 2013 World Car Design of the Year award.

The expertise at Jaguar in aluminum vehicle architecture has been essential in enabling both the uncompromised design aesthetic, while delivering the fundamental dynamic attributes - essential to any sports car - of low mass and an extremely rigid body.

A fundamental requirement for excellent dynamic attributes, delivering that rigidity figure required some innovative engineering solutions in order to maximize strength without impacting on the design vision.
