NOVITEC ROSSO refines the Ferrari 488 Spider with carbon, forged wheels, tuning rated at 568 kW / 772 hp and a top speed of 342 km/h
Haute couture and high performance: NOVITEC ROSSO now also offers an exclusive refinement program for the Ferrari 488 Spider. A sporty designer outfit from naked carbon and tailor-made wheels with diameters of up to 22 inches make the Italian sports car even more extraordinary
The NOVITEC ROSSO engine specialists have developed various performance upgrades with up to 568 kW / 772 hp for the 3.9-liter twin-turbo V-8 engine, which shoot the open-top two-seater in just 2.8 seconds from rest to 100 km/h on the way to a top speed of 342 km/h.
The NOVITEC ROSSO product range also encompasses various high-performance exhaust systems including a superlight version made from INCONEL, plus a hydraulic front lift system and individual customization of the cockpit.
Carbon is the number-one choice in not only Formula 1 racing, but also the preferred material for the NOVITEC ROSSO aerodynamic-enhancement components for the Ferrari 488 Spider. Apart from thrilling looks, the designers above all aimed for aerodynamic efficiency, which they achieved with the help of laborious wind tunnel testing. Tailor-made aerodynamic-enhancement components are of course also available for the GTB version.
The front of the mid-engine sports car is upgraded with a spoiler lip, a surround for the central air intake, and side flaps. This adds even more sporty character to the car’s appearance. What is more: The aerodynamic-enhancement components also reduce lift on the front axle at high speeds. The NOVITEC ROSSO rocker panels give the car a lower and sleeker visual stance. Carbon applications for the door mirrors, and black turn signals add further striking design highlights.
The NOVITEC ROSSO add-on diffuser for the production bumper and the rear spoiler lip lend the drop-top sports car more exciting looks while also optimizing the aerodynamic efficiency. Owners of 488 Spider wishing for an even more spectacular-looking rear end can upgrade with the large NOVITEC ROSSO rear airfoil. Carbon surrounds for the taillights and the black LED third brake light add further visual details.
The extraordinary NOVITEC ROSSO styling is rounded out with wheels designed specifically for Ferrari 488. Customers can choose between especially light 21-inch forged rims and three-piece rims in a staggered combination of 21-inch and 22-inch wheels, which emphasize the wedge shape of the sports car even more.
NOVITEC ROSSO NF4 forged wheels provide maximum driving dynamics as the result of reduced unsprung masses. The size 9Jx21 front wheels are mounted with tires of size 255/30 ZR 21, while the 12Jx22 rims on the rear axle are shod with tires of size 335/25 ZR 22. Pirelli supplies the perfectly matched high-performance tires in form of the P Zero.
Alternatively, customers can opt for the new three-piece NOVITEC ROSSO NF7 alloys with ten slender spokes. The size 9Jx21 front wheels are likewise mounted with Pirelli P Zero high-performance tires of size 255/30 ZR 21. Size 335/25 ZR 22 tires on 12Jx22 rims on the rear axle provide maximum grip.
The hydraulic suspension system that further optimizes the 488 Spider’s practicality is a special NOVITEC ROSSO hi-tech development. To be able to, for example, navigate over a curb or down a parking garage ramp, the front end of the car can be raised by 40 millimeters at the touch of a button in the cockpit. The front end reverts to its original position at a second touch of the button or automatically upon reaching a speed of 80 km/h. The standard-spec damper adjustment range of the 488 Spider is of course fully retained.
In keeping with a successful tradition at NOVITEC ROSSO, the company now also offers engine tuning for the 488 Spider, controlled from the ‘manettino’ on the steering wheel. While the inner workings of the 3.9-liter twin-turbo V-8 engine remained untouched, the peripherals were modified in various upgrade stages.
To optimize the power delivery further, the NOVITEC ROSSO specialists have developed modifications for the electronic engine control unit. The 488 Spider is fitted with two NOVITEC ROSSO N-TRONIC control modules, which provide the ECU with specially calibrated mapping for injection and ignition while increasing the peak boost pressure. This benefits not only the power delivery, but also results in further optimized throttle response and in-gear acceleration.
Upgrading to a NOVITEC ROSSO high-performance exhaust system is equally indispensable for an optimal power delivery. The exhaust system, which is optionally available with electronic sound management, comes in various versions and for maximum performance can also be combined with 100-cell sports catalysts. Owners of a 488 who are not just looking for better sound and maximum power, but also want to save significant weight can opt for an especially lightweight sport exhaust system made from INCONEL. This high-end alloy is also used in Formula 1 racing for manufacturing exhaust systems.
In the highest NOVITEC ROSSO upgrade stage, the engine produces an extra 76 kW / 102 hp of power and 132 Nm more torque. With a new output of 568 kW / 772 hp at 7,950 rpm and 892 Nm torque at a low 3,250 rpm, the open-top two-seater sprints from 0 – 100 km/h in just 2.8 seconds and reaches a top speed of 342 km/h.
