Toyota GB has been honoured with a 2012 Fleet Hero Award from the Energy Saving Trust in recognition of its environmental leadership.
The honour reflects Toyota’s success in reducing fuel use and carbon emissions, taking a 360-degree approach to improving environmental performance across all its business activities.
Philip Sellwood, Chief Executive of the Energy Saving Trust, said: “Toyota GB has set a great example to others and has shown how innovation, leadership and effective management in this area of the business can not only help us meet the UK’s sustainability targets, but also make significant cost savings in the process.”
Thomas Rosselle, Toyota’s Manager, Corporate and Social Affairs, said: “We’re delighted to receive this award from the trust, we value it as another independent affirmation of the success of our work to reduce the environmental impact of our business. Our commitment goes beyond making cleaner, more fuel efficient vehicles to put environmental concerns at the heart of our company ethos.
“We hope that the measures we put in place in our operations and their proven effectiveness in cutting emissions, energy usage and costs might also inspire others to look at how they can achieve similar benefits.”
Rosselle accepted Toyota’s award at a ceremony at the Institute of Directors in London on 20 November. The Fleet Hero Awards are presented annually to public and private organisations and businesses in the UK who achieve lower fuel bills and carbon emissions through better transport policies and fleet efficiency. The trust also recognises good work done by companies that provide cost and fuel-saving products and services to vehicle fleet operators.
