  • Suzuki SA Teams up with Odin for Endurance Racing Series

Suzuki Auto South Africa has teamed up with ŌDIN Power Sports to sponsor and organise the Suzuki 4:8:12 Endurance Circuit Racing series to give rookie, club and professional riders the opportunity to hone their skills in a racing environment inspired by legendary races such as the Suzuka 8-hour in Japan and the Bol d’Or 24-hour in France.

The Suzuki/ ŌDIN series will consist of three races – the Uncle Andy Racing (UAR) 4-hour, the BlackStone Tek (BST) 8-hour and the Pitbull Energy Drink 12-hour races. The series is sanctioned by Motorsport SA, so it will be both well controlled and well organized.

It makes ideal sense for Suzuki, as the World Endurance Racing Champions, to support endurance racing in South Africa. Endurance racing is growing in popularity worldwide as it places emphasis on both the speed and reliability of the competing motorcycles and it has the appeal of team participation and team tactics, which makes for very thrilling contests.

What makes this Suzuki/ ŌDIN Endurance Series particularly appealing is the fact that the winners of the 2014 series will have the opportunity to race the legendary Suzuki GSXR 750 in the 2015 Suzuki 4:8:12 Endurance Circuit Racing.

The GSXR 750 is seen as the ideal motorcycle for success in this series as it is celebrating 30 years of race-winning performance with its roots deep into endurance racing worldwide.

This high tech machine has the benefit of top class performance and light weight, which makes it well suited to the tighter race tracks used for the endurance series.
The prize motorcycle, which will be prepared by ŌDIN Power Sports, will be raced under the banner of Uncle Andy Racing (UAR), which is the team racking up victories in Thunderbikes, SuperGP and the winners of the 2013 Bike SA 24-hour and UAR 4-hour races.

In addition to being professionally prepared and competing as part of a leading team the Suzuka Special Edition racing motorcycles will be equipped with BST Carbon Wheels, the ultimate in lightweight racing wheels. Metzeler tyres and Motul oils will complement the support package, while a host of speciality parts and suppliers such as Shorai Lilo batteries, Yoshimura, GBRacing, MRA, Fren Tubo, Brembo and many more will ensure this will be the motorcycle to beat in 2015.

In addition to the main prize of a sponsored Suzuki GSXR750 the teams contesting the Suzuki/ ŌDIN series will have the opportunity to win class prizes as well as contingency prizes from participating vendors.

Suzuki, as the overall sponsor of the series, will be prominent at all the races with a feast of action and displays both on and off the track. Fans will have the opportunity to test ride the latest models while enjoying the exciting on-track rivalry of this form of racing, all as part of the Suzuki Way of Life experience.

Suzuki will also be using this series to promote the return of this iconic brand to MotoGP racing in 2015.

Redstar Raceway is a partner with the Suzuki 4:8:12 Endurance Circuit Racing, handling all aspects of the race day organisation. The challenging track, specially designed for motorcycles, is 4km long and has 13 turns. The easy access and excellent facilities make this the ideal choice for the Suzuki 4:8:12 Endurance series. Jacques van Wyngaardt and his team are constantly upgrading this unique Raceway and every effort is made to accommodate teams, riders and supporters in a pleasant and friendly environment.

Follow the action in Superbike Magazine, and catch Matt and Harry from Ignition TV’s Bike Show as they prepare to compete in the upcoming BST 8-hour in October.

Suzuki Auto South Africa is a subsidiary of Suzuki Japan and has 46 motorcycle dealers in South Africa to provide product sales and top quality service.
