In excess of 1000 enthusiasts attended ‘Breakfast at JD Classics’ on Sunday October 28, for an open morning at JD Classics’ Maldon premises with guest speaker, John Surtees OBE.
JD Classics’ impressive facilities had a selection of two and four-wheeled machinery on display, while the in-house chassis, engine, paint and trim departments were all open to visitors. Attendees were simply mesmerised by the amount of special projects and vehicles that were under restoration.
From a stage inside JD Classics’ workshops, John Surtees OBE, who is the only person to have won World Championships on two and four wheels, enthralled the crowds during a Q&As session. Surtees offered brilliant accounts of his varied racing career from a time when drivers endangered their lives in a bid to take the chequered flag.
The next ‘Breakfast at JD Classics’ on Sunday November 18 (08.30-11.30), with Sir Stirling Moss as the guest speaker, promises to also be a morning to remember. Due to the high number of visitors expected this event is ticket only. Please contact Business Manager Richard Graylen on +44 (0)1621 879579 to secure a place.
Derek Hood, Managing Director, JD Classics commented: “It has been a fantastic morning and undoubtedly the busiest Breakfast at JD’s we have organised so far – the premises were full of visitors. As an enthusiast of both two and four wheels, I was especially fascinated with the anecdotes from John Surtees.”
