Milton Keynes based company Volkswagen Financial Services (VWFS) has gone all out for this year’s Children in Need appeal after the company volunteered to act as one of the official call centres for Children in Need night on the 18 of November.
Over 150 local employees from VWFS will be onsite throughout the evening of the 18 November taking telephone donations for this year’s Children in Need appeal. The 2011 appeal has the tagline ‘Show us your spots’ and the VWFS staff will be getting into the spirit of things by making the building (and themselves) as spotty as possible.
Lisa Stacey, joint-managing director of Volkswagen Financial Services, said; “Since it started the BBC Children in Need appeal has helped raise over £600 million for worthy causes and everyone at Volkswagen Financial Services is delighted to have the opportunity to help make this year another success story.
As well as acting as one of the call centres, VWFS staff will also be raising money onsite throughout the buildup period with bake sales, raffles, casual dress days and a competition to guess how many balloons are in the back of five VW brand cars which will all have been decorated in spots matching the colour of Pudsey.”
The BBC first broadcast an appeal for Children on Christmas Day 1927 and since then it has grown into an annual charity event with the first ‘telethon’ starting in 1980. BBC Children in Need now funds over 2,000 charities all across the UK, helping children with a diverse range of needs.
