On 13 July 2012 Mac Tools’ UK Recruitment Manager Paul Clegg took part in the UK Three Peaks Challenge to raise over £500 for BEN, the automotive industry charity.
The Three Peaks Challenge takes on the highest mountains in Scotland, England and Wales all within 24hours! The trek covers an astonishing 40km, involves climbing 3,400m and travelling more than 556 miles between the peaks.
The challenge began in one of Scotland’s most scenic areas: Glen Nevis Valley, where the teams climbed Ben Nevis, the largest mountain in the UK, standing at 1,344m. Scafell Pike, the highest mountain in England standing at 978m was the second peak and finally the challengers took on the highest mountain in Wales: Snowdon, standing at 1,085m.
The gruelling schedule was worth it, says Paul: “Mac Tools franchisees are trusted distributors to the automotive repair shops and car dealers. We wanted to give something back to the community and did that via BEN.”
BEN’s Events Manager, Kelly Neal, commented: “We have had such support from the industry this year with many companies taking on the 3 Peaks Challenge and we can’t thank Mac Tools enough for being one of those. We are very grateful for the brilliant sum of money that Paul Clegg has raised for our industry colleagues. Thank you.”
