On Saturday, August 4, 2012 Google used its influence to direct millions of their search engine users to the “London 2012 Pole Vault” competition. This is something I love about Google instead of focusing on the most popular Olympic sports.
Google have used their Google Doodle in such a way to bring much needed attention to some less known sports at the Olympics.
The London 2012 Pole Vault competition is not starting on August 4, 2012 but rather on August 8, 2012 to August 10, 2012 making it the first Olympic Google Doodle not synchronized with the times, schedules and dates of the London 2012 Olympics.
In the London 2012 Pole Vault image one can see the Olympic Stadium in the background. The London 2012 Pole Vault competition is indeed taking place in the Olympic Stadium. The words “Google” is visible in the logo just behind the stadium. In the image there are a female athlete performing at the London 2012 Pole Vault completion, and one can see her jumping over the cross bar.
Google can only be admired for their initiative to inform people across the world about the Olympics via there Google Doodles.
