At the 2011 edition of Bologna Motor Show, two exclusive Italian previews celebrate 70 years of technical evolution and passion for the outdoors. Star of this year’s motor show is the high-performance SRT8 model of the brand’s flagship Grand Cherokee.
Together with the debut of the most powerful and high-speed Jeep vehicle ever produced, Jeep showcases the Italian première of the all-new Jeep Wrangler Arctic: the special-edition model of the iconic Wrangler created to conquer extremely demanding terrains. Italian debut for the new lifestyle collection now available for sale at the Jeep stand in Bologna.
The Jeep Track built in the area outside Hall 19, will give motor show attendees a chance to enjoy an authentic ‘Jeep experience’ on board Jeep Wrangler and Jeep Grand Cherokee.
The Jeep brand is in Bologna with two previews for the Italian public: star of the 2011 edition of Bologna Motor Show is the high-performance SRT8 model of the brand’s flagship Grand Cherokee powered by the all-new 6.4-liter HEMI® V-8 engine producing 470 horsepower.
The new Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 showcased in national première on the Jeep stand in Bologna features an exclusive Red exterior color and Black leather interior. The new Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 is the most powerful and high-speed Jeep vehicle ever produced, boasting performance of an authentic super-car. 20-inch forged aluminium wheels, lowered profile, functional design, race-inspired interior and exclusive SRT steering wheel with mounted paddle shifters give an aggressive, muscular look to the Jeep flagship and anticipate the sporty performances granted both on road and at the race track. The all-new SRT8 model will be introduced in the Italian market in the first quarter of 2012.
In the spotlights of the Jeep stand in Bologna, the all-new Jeep Wrangler Arctic: the new special-edition model is showcased in an exclusive Winter Chill exterior color with black Tectonic interior and features a unique winter theme created in response to Jeep enthusiasts looking for adventure and world-class performance.
Featuring exclusive styling cues, unique black 17-inch wheels, body-color hard top and original Mopar® accessories, the new Arctic model will be powered by the 2.8-liter turbo diesel engine and will be available in the Italian dealerships for both Jeep Wrangler and Wrangler Unlimited in the first quarter of 2012.
“The Power of a Line” is the theme for the Jeep stand in Bologna: the line stands for lineage and symbolizes the strength of the legendary Jeep heritage. It tells the story of constant evolution of an iconic brand in the automotive industry that this year celebrates its 70th anniversary.
A brand that stands for the true original off-road vehicle and that has always been able to reinvent itself while it always stood for the same core values, retaining its DNA. Reaching back seventy years, the line is virtually connecting the first original 4×4 to the products of today.
Located inside hall 19, the 750-square-metre exhibition area features a modern and functional design. The lighting system is designed to enhance the shape and color of each show-car as it delivers the same effect of stage sets.
Also, the use of colors has been carefully considered as it emphasizes the different terrains on which Jeep vehicles can better express their personality: in the city as well as on extreme off-road tracks. The beige, gray and white on the stand’s floor mark the boundaries between sand dunes, snow drifts and grand city boulevards – perfect backgrounds to test the 4×4 capabilities and on-road performance of Jeep SUVs.
In addition to the two premières revealed in Bologna, the exhibition area will host the models of the renewed Jeep lineup: visitors can admire the flagship Jeep Grand Cherokee displayed in the Overland trim line with elegant Stone White exterior and Nappa leather Black interior, featuring the V-6 3.0-liter turbo diesel engine with 241 hp fitted with Multijet II technology; the iconic Jeep Wrangler Unlimited with new 2.8-liter turbo diesel engine producing 200 hp will feature Bright White exterior and Black interior; the compact Urban SUV Jeep Compass in the four-wheel drive configuration powered by the efficient 2.2-liter turbo diesel with 163 hp will be showcased in a Bright White exterior color matched with Black interiors; and the Medium SUV Jeep Cherokee equipped with the 2.8-liter turbo diesel engine will be displayed in a Mineral Gray exterior and Black interiors.
Pictures and videos featuring the Jeep lineup will be displayed on the main screen placed on the wall in the background and on the central column with LED surface. The pleasant atmosphere and the fine Italian food offered at the lounge area will delight the guests who will be enjoying a short lunch break at the Jeep stand.
A dedicated area will host the merchandising corner where visitors will be able to buy the items of the newest Jeep lifestyle collection. The all-new, exclusive Jeep apparel and accessories were designed to celebrate the renewal of the lineup and make their Italian debut in Bologna.
The distribution of brochures and information material at the stand will introduce visitors to the products of FGA Capital, a financial specialist in the automotive sector. Jeep is offering a completely new and exciting visitors’ experience at this year’s Bologna Motor Show by constructing the ‘Jeep Track’, a unique, urban 4×4 driving course that will provide event-goers and their families with an authentic off-road driving experience.
The 1,860 square-metre space located at the area 43 outside Hall 19, will be turned into an American metropolis in miniature featuring a 4×4 course that encompasses obstacles found in off-road driving. This space will be open to the public following press days and will give motor show attendees a chance to test drive inside the show ground the outstanding on- and off-road capabilities of the iconic Jeep Wrangler and the flagship Jeep Grand Cherokee.
The Jeep Track expresses the American nature of the brand and its layout ideally reproduces New York through some distinctive features: a skyscraper, a panel with the city’s skyline, the facade of a building with a subway station entrance at its basement and two facades of historic buildings from the Thirties.
Both the bar and the service station are built in the style found in Edward Hopper’s paintings: the famous American realist painter of the Twentieth century. The service station will be the starting stage for visitors who will enjoy a test drive. The building under construction will ideally connect the two driving experiences: the on with the off-road one.
