H&H, one of Europe’s leading specialist auctioneers of classic cars and motorcycles, has selected this year’s Coventry Festival of Motoring (Stoneleigh Park, August 25/26) for the debut of not one but two innovative new types of classic vehicle sales, for which the company is now inviting entries.

The landmark approaches that have not (as far as H&H is aware) previously been tried on this side of the Atlantic, have the enthusiastic backing of both Jaguar Heritage and the Festival’s organisers, and give vendors the option of:

  • Hiring a plot from which to advertise their vehicle and, if wished, performing their own sale
  • And/or entering their vehicle for one of two ‘rolling’ auctions that will be taking place during the weekend

Said H&H’s Marketing Manager, Richard Caton: “Though our regular auctions are the perfect events for many people to sell their classic vehicles, we were determined to provide our clients with some exciting new choices. We believe the combination of personal sales pitch and American-style ‘rolling’ auction could prove very popular – especially as we have very deliberately kept the charges as low as possible.”

Commented Jonathan Partridge on behalf of Jaguar Heritage: “We welcome this innovative new initiative from H&H that will provide Jaguar owners with a flexible and cost effective way to offer their cars for sale. The Coventry Festival of Motoring will have a strong Jaguar focus as part of the 90th anniversary celebrations for the founding of the Swallow Sidecar Company, and it is appropriate that there will be dedicated Jaguar sections within the H&H auctions. We hope that this exciting opportunity will encourage a wide range of Jaguar owners considering selling their vehicles to come to the Festival.”

Added Gary Hall, Chair of the Coventry Festival of Motoring Organising Committee: “As well as moving the Festival to Stoneleigh Park we are adding a whole range of new elements to the weekend’s programme, and are delighted that H&H’s first ‘Open’ auctions will form a major part of the event.”

The Festival opening times are 10am to 5pm on both days, while the auctions will take place from 12 noon to 4pm. All sale vehicles will have to be accompanied by a V5 and all auction entries will be HPI checked. Vendors will be able to purchase on site: valeting services; insurance cover; transportation within the local area; and their own HPI checks (£10). On-site storage will be available until Wednesday, August 29.

The sales charges are as follows:

  • Weekend pitch– car, £50 plus VAT; motorcycle, £25 plus VAT
  • Auction entry– car, £50 plus VAT (commission rates, 0% sellers/12% buyers); motorcycle, FOC (commission rates, 10% sellers/12% buyers)
  • Transfer from pitch to auction– car, £25 plus VAT; motorcycle, FOC

Further information on the Festival, to which in excess of 20,000 visitors are expected, can be found at festival-of-motoring.co.uk while details of all H&H events are available at handh.co.uk. Those interested in entering a classic car or motorcycle for the sales should contact H&H without delay on 08458 334455.
