PRETORIA, 23 October, 2012 – Ford and popular men’s magazine FHM will host the FHM & Ford Performance Day at Zwartkops Raceway in Pretoria on 25 November. The new Ford Focus ST will take centre stage in what is sure to be an adrenaline-filled day.
“The Focus ST offers excellent performance and striking styling that Ford fans across the world have been waiting for,” said Gavin Golightly, Ford Marketing Manager. “The FHM & Ford Performance Day provides a unique opportunity for Ford fans to experience the true capabilities of the vehicle in a controlled environment, with professional drivers able to demonstrate the best qualities of the Focus ST.”
Performance fans can enter via the ‘FHM Performance Day’ tab on Ford South Africa’s Facebook page, with 125 people and their selected partner securing access to the event. On the day a lucky draw will take place, with ten finalists and their partners being awarded the opportunity to race around the track piloted by a professional driving instructor with an FHM model by their side.
The 10 teams of finalists will enjoy access to the VIP lounge where they will get to hang out with professional racing drivers, indulge in meals and drinks, hang out with FHM models (with exclusive photo opportunities) and stand a chance to win additional exclusive gifts and prizes.
The ten finalists will also be separated into teams of four comprising of the finalist and their friend, an FHM model and a professional driving instructor. Together they will score points by competing in various activities with the ultimate winner receiving the opportunity to pilot themselves around the track.
Everyone attending the day will be able to enjoy a number of exciting activities that includes go-karting, skidpan challenges and the opportunity to experience Ford’s new SYNC™ in-car infotainment system display. Various spot prizes will be awarded throughout the day including the opportunity to take the Ford Focus ST around the track.
The new Focus ST is powered by Ford’s 2.0-litre EcoBoost engine that delivers the power of a larger displacement unit with the fuel efficiency of a smaller engine. Its six-speed manual transmission produces maximum punch from each gear shift throw using specially-revised gearing. The sixth gear helps drivers achieve impressive fuel economy on longer runs.
The Focus ST’s exciting and energetic appeal is characterized by its new signature colour Tangerine Scream and its aggressive and aerodynamic design features, which include bulging side skirts and dynamic bumpers and spoilers.
