Ford Focus 1.6 Ambiente 5-door
The popular Ford Focus range will this month broaden its scope even further with the introduction of a new entry-level derivative. The newly released five-door 1.6 Ambiente is aimed at first time buyers and fleet owners offering a new level of affordability to the already popular Ford range.
The suggested retail for the new Focus 1.6 Ambiente 5-door will be a mere R153 660.00 including VAT. This includes a host of comprehensive features.
The 1.6 Ambiente featuring a 1.6-litre four-cylinder DOHC 16-valve is matched to a five-speed manual gearbox and hydraulic power assisted steering. It has been enhanced with the addition of variable camshaft timing on the inlet cam. The engine is engineered for greater torque at low engine speeds without sacrificing power output at higher revs.
The engine delivers 77 kW of power at 6 000 r/min and 145 Nm of torque at 4 000 r/min. Fuel consumption has been measured at 9.6 litres per 100km in town, 5.8 litres out of town, and 7.2 litres on a combined cycle.
“The Ford Focus has won much critical acclaim thanks to its outstanding levels of refinement, driving quality, class leading active safety and practical packaging that have been seamlessly incorporated to create an unrivalled ownership experience,” explains Ford Marketing Manager, André Oosthuizen.
“The introduction of the new 5-door Ambiente model allows us to provide this unique package in an even more cost effective package.”
The 5-door Ambiente has body-coloured bumpers on the exterior, while interior features include a four-spoke steering wheel, a height-adjustable driver’s seat, a 60/40 split folding rear seat, a 12-litre glove box, roof-mounted sunglass holder, centre console (including cigarette lighter, cup holders, stowage bins and ash tray), driver’s side stowage bin, front door pockets, radio/CD front loader with RDS/four speakers and an AUX input jack in the glove box for external music sources such as MP3 players or iPods.
Convenience features include a height and reach adjustable steering wheel, power front windows, glove box illumination, delayed entry lighting with theatre dimming and instrument cluster dimming.
Safety and security features include ABS brakes with EBD, the Ford Intelligent Protection System (IPS), dual front airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners and load limiters, height adjustable front seatbelts, three rear three-point seatbelts, height adjustable rear seat outboard headrests, a bonnet lock, rear child locks, a fuel filler cap linked to the central locking system, remote central locking with a “flip” key, an Electronic Passive Anti Theft System (EPATS) immobiliser and an alarm.
