(SOUTH AFRICA) February 19, 2011 – Kia Motors South Africa is a proud vehicle sponsor and supporter of the SHOUT Foundation. Our national brand ambassador Danny K launched this vision in March 2010 to highlight the impact of crime in South Africa and work towards confronting this problem head on. Initiatives such as the partnership with Domestic Watch and the anti-crime celebrity Car Wash have been established as platforms for community engagement and increased awareness.

To that end, top South African music artists and celebrities have gone the extra mile in raising money for the fight against crime! First they rolled up their sleeves to wash away crime and grime – in an effort to raise funds for a crime fighting organization. Now, SHOUT has also announced that it will be donating extra funding to an orphanage in Alexandra, in line with its focus on the youth in 2011.

The anti-crime Car Wash was hailed as a huge success – with celebrities and members of the public turning up in numbers to support the cause. The event saw just over 150 cars being cleaned by the celebrities. An amount of 10-thousand Rand was raised for Domestic Watch, an initiative which sees domestic helpers trained and equipped in the fight against crime and crime prevention.

Chairman of the SHOUT Foundation, Gavin Koppel said: “SHOUT is going the extra mile and is proud to announce that it will also donate a further 10-thousand rand to the Thuthuzela Orphanage Care Center in Alexandra. This forms part of SHOUT’s 2011 strategy to focus on South Africa’s youth, especially vulnerable and disadvantaged youths.”

The singers and celebrities who took part in the SHOUT charity drive included Danny K, Kabelo Mabalane, Loyiso, Tamara Dey and Flash Republic, Louise Carver, Max Mmethi and PJ Powers. Other celebrities included members of Zebra and Giraffe, Leanne Manas, Miss SA Bokgang Montjane and members of the 7de Laan cast – among others. 94.7 Highveld Stereo DJ, Mark Pilgrim – who is also a SHOUT ambassador – broadcast the KIA Take40 SA live from the venue, Car Spa
