DRIVERS REMINDED TO ‘BAG IT, BIN IT!’ AND KEEP ROADS TIDY AS THE OLYMPIC TORCH COMES TO THE UK
As the Olympic Torch relay gets underway this weekend, the Highways Agency is calling on road users to help tackle roadside litter and ensure that England’s motorways and major roads provide safe and pleasant journeys during the summer of the Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Olympic gold medallist Mark Lewis-Francis puts his acceleration to the test with BMW
London, 14 May 2012: Olympic gold medallist and BMW London 2012 Performance team member Mark Lewis-Francis joined sports scientist Professor Greg Whyte on The Mall in London yesterday to investigate the parallels between the acceleration of a world class sprinter and a BMW.
Today the Google Doodle for Mother’s Day hasn’t come as a complete surprise. We all should know what mother’s day is anyways. The nice thing about the Google Mother’s Day doodle is that if you forgot about Mother’s Day the Google doodle would have reminded you about it.
On the 9th May 2012 the Google Doodle of Howard Carter reminded the world of the existence of Howard Carter. May 9, 2012 would have marked his 138th Birthday. He was born in England on the 9th of May 1874. Howard Carter discovered one of the best preserved Egyptian Pharaohs and Tombs in Egypt.
He found the now famous Tutankhamen Tomb on the 4th of November 1922. He was involved with archaeology from an early age and played an important role in the history of Egyptian Archaeology. According to Wikipedia he arrived in Egypt when he was only 17 years old.
Howard Carter (9 May 1874 – 2 March 1939)
The most famous Egyptian pharaoh today is, without doubt, Tutankhamen. However, before the spectacular discovery of his almost intact tomb in the Valley of the Kings in November 4, 1922, Tutankhamen was only a little known figure of the late 18th Dynasty. It was Howard Carter and Lord Carnarvon who discovered the Tomb of “Tutankhamen”.
The discovery of the Tutankhamen is one of the most famous Egyptian historical finds to date. The Howard Carter discovery, found more than 3,000 treasures which were buried with Tutankhamen in his grave. Today these historical treasures which consist of Gold, Jewelry and Art can be found in the Egyptian Museum in Cairo.

If you look outside tonight and see that the moon is slightly bigger than usual your eyes will not be deceiving you. On the 5th of May 2012 it will be the closest the moon appears to be to earth and as a result the moon will appear bigger than usual.
Children’s Day Google Doodle in Japan
Today 5 May 2012 Google have announced Children’s Day in Japan with a Google Doodle. Children’s day is on the 5th day of the 5th month each year and is a public holiday in Japan. The day is a national holiday and set aside to respect children rights, personalities and to celebrate innocents and happiness of children. In 1948 the Japanese Government declared “Children’s Day” and announced it as a public holiday.

The Google doodle celebrates the live and legend of Keith Haring, who is considered by many as the most famous American artist of the 80’s. He has not only painted the walls in New York City but also left his graffiti on International walls, hospitals, shops, streets and charity organization throughout the world.
Today Google is honoring Keith Haring by replacing the normal Google Doodle with the Keith Haring’s 54th birthday logo. The logo is representative of the art Keith Haring were most famous for. In the 1980’s Keith Haring developed his unique art similar to Graffiti. Keith Haring is possibly the most well known US artist of the 80’s.
