FTA LAUNCHES LOGISTICS CARBON REDUCTION SCHEME AWARDS

The inaugural Logistics Carbon Reduction Scheme (LCRS) Awards, developed to celebrate the efforts of green leaders in the freight industry, have been launched by the Freight Transport Association today.  The awards will recognise the efforts of individual LCRS members to reduce their carbon emissions from freight activity.

OLYMPICS COULD PROVIDE BOOST TO DOMESTIC ROAD FREIGHT ACTIVITY SAYS FTA

Growth in domestic road freight activity remained weak in the second quarter of 2012 according to the Freight Transport Association’s latest Quarterly Transport Activity Survey (QTAS).  The slight growth in activity reported was much lower than that predicted in the previous quarter’s QTAS report, although respondents said that they anticipated growth to be stronger in the third quarter of 2012, suggesting there is hope that the London 2012 Olympics will provide a boost to the economy.

FTA OFFERS CERTIFICATE OF EXCELLENCE IN VAN OPERATIONS

The Freight Transport Association is offering two brand new training courses for van operators, the Certificate of Excellence for Van Operators and the Certificate of Excellence for Passenger Van Operators.  The courses are based on the guidelines contained in the association’s Van Excellence Code, which was written with advice and support from many of the UK’s best van fleets and represents an ideal basis for the safe and legal operation of vans and light commercial vehicles.

Another month of double digit growth in the new car finance market capped a strong first half of the year for motor finance providers, according to Q2 figures from the Finance & Leasing Association, the trade body for the motor finance industry.
