Alpine A450 target the podium at Imola

The second round of the 2013 European Le Mans Series will take teams to Imola, some 40 kilometres from Bologna, Italy, on May 17-18.
The 3 Hours of Imola will be the car’s last official outing before the focus switches to the 90th anniversary edition of the Le Mans 24 Hours on June 22-23.
At Imola, the Alpine A450 will be shared by Nelson Panciatici and Pierre Ragues whose mission will be to harvest valuable European Le Mans Series points.

A little more than a month after its maiden appearance at Silverstone, Signatech-Alpine heads for Imola with its sights set high. Nelson Panciatici and Pierre Ragues will benefit from an evolution version of the Alpine A450 which has been adapted to meet the Italian venue’s specific characteristics.

The Alpine A450 poised to kick off its 2013 campaign at Silverstone

The official name of the endurance racing prototype that will be run by Signatech-Alpine this season is ‘Alpine A450’, thereby continuing the naming system employed for the brand’s race cars of the 1970s.
Barely a month after the announcement of the brand’s return to motor racing, the Alpine A450 will participate in its first race at Silverstone, United Kingdom, on April 12-13.
The Signatech-Alpine team will contest all five rounds of the 2013 European Le Mans Series, as well as June’s Le Mans 24 Hours.
The two drivers of the Alpine A450 in the European Le Mans Series are Nelson Panciatici and Pierre Ragues.
Renault’s Chief Operating Officer Carlos Tavares will be at Silverstone to experience the brand’s return to motor racing at first hand.

As a tribute to the Alpines which raced at Le Mans in the 1970s, the ‘LM P2’ prototype run by Signatech-Alpine has been christened ‘Alpine A450’.

RENAULT AND CATERHAM GROUP ANNOUNCE A PARTNERSHIP TO DESIGN AND BUILD SPORTS VEHICLES

Renault and Caterham Group today announced their decision to join forces in pursuit of a common project: to design develop and build future sports vehicles. This agreement reflects a similar passion and expertise in sports and motorsports vehicles.
The future vehicles will be distinctive, differentiated, and carry the respective DNA of Alpine and Caterham Cars, the automotive division of Caterham Group. They will be built at the Alpine plant in Dieppe, Normandy, in France.
The Caterham Group will own 50% stake in the Automobiles Alpine Renault company, currently 100 % held by Renault SAS. The Société des Automobiles Alpine Caterham, which will be resulting from this partnership, shall be created in January 2013. It will be managed by Bernard Ollivier
This project, which ensures the Dieppe Plant a sustainable future, was made possible thanks to the incentive and to the substantial support and commitment provided by the French State and the Région Haute Normandie which also involved the contribution of Dieppe Maritime.
