JAGUAR EXPANDS XF AND XJ POWERTRAIN CHOICE WITH TWO ADDITIONAL FORCED-INDUCTION PETROL ENGINES

At-a-glance

  • Jaguar is introducing two additional forced-induction petrol engines to its range for the 2013MY; the new 3.0-litre V6 250kW Supercharged Petrol, and the four-cylinder 2.0-litre 177kW Turbocharged Petrol.
  • The respective supercharging and turbocharging technology used in each engine means they offer efficiently delivered high-specific power and torque outputs
  • The 3.0-litre V6 Supercharged Petrol (3.0 V6 S/C) draws on key technology used in Jaguar’s award-winning 5.0-litre V8, and has significantly higher specific      performance than the naturally-aspirated version of that engine
  • The 3.0 V6 S/C 250kW version will be offered in XF and XJ models
  • The 2.0-litre  produces 177kW and 340Nm, offering greater performance than Jaguar’s existing naturally-aspirated V6 engine, but with four-cylinder economy
  • The 2.0-litre will replace the 3.0-litre naturally-aspirated petrol AJ-V6 in XF.
  • Both engines deliver their power through smooth shifting eight-speed automatic transmissions – now available across the XF & XJ model ranges.
  • The 3.0 V6 S/C and 5.0 V8 S/C will be available with Jaguar’s Intelligent Stop-Start system

Union Buildings To Durban Beachfront and Return On One Tank of Fuel

Jaguar South Africa will make a slightly out-of-the-ordinary attempt this weekend. On Sunday 1st July, a Jaguar XF 2.2 –litre four cylinder diesel will depart from the Union Buildings in Pretoria and attempt to drive to the Durban Beachfront and back – a distance of approximately 1 242 km -  on a single tank of diesel. This is a little unusual in that it’s not the traditional Johannesburg to Cape Town dash, and all the more challenging as a result.
