Fiat, Alfa Romeo and Abarth customers and enthusiasts had the opportunity to experience the three Italian brands from Fiat Group Automobiles South Africa at the Arnold Chatz Cars track day at Kyalami today.

Arnold Chatz Cars had a variety of models on hand for customers to sample, while customers also had the opportunity to put their own cars through their paces around the race track.

“All three brands have a strong racing heritage,” says Derick Scorer, Dealer Principal of Arnold Chatz Cars. “While today provides customers with the opportunity to understand the prowess of these models in a race track environement, it also allows customers to experience and enjoy the different models available accross all three brands.”

In particular, the range of Abarth cars available exclusively through Arnold Chatz Cars’ Abarth Performance Centre attracted lots of interest. The Abarth 500, 500C and essesse upgrades make a scintillating track tool, not least in Abarth 695 Tributo Ferrari guise.

In addition to having the opportunity to enjoy the various models on the circuit, those in attendance also had the chance to rub shoulders with the likes of F1 guru Sasha Martinengo, Fiat Group Automobiles South Africa management and Arnold Chatz himself. Namesake to the dealership hosting the event, Arnold Chatz has an illustrious racing career intrinsically tied to the Italian company.

With Alfa Romeo’s Giulia celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, one of Alfa Romeo’s Giulia50 historic racing cars was also on display. Alongside the current 159, the milestone showed just how innovative, advanced and seductive Alfa Romeo saloons have been over the past 50 years.

“We hope that those in attendance today gained a deeper understanding of our dynamic brands, their heritage and the diversity of products on offer,” added Trent Barcroft Managing Director Fiat Group Automobiles South Africa and Chrysler South Africa. “There’s no substitute for physically getting behind the wheel, and many more people were allowed that opportunity today. I’m sure our loyal customers also showed them how much enjoyment they derive from their own cars.”

Arnold Chatz Cars is based in Craighall Park and boasts a full range of Fiat, Alfa Romeo and Fiat Professional models. It is the sole Abarth Performance Centre in Johannesburg, with specialised technicians and dedicated facilities.
