THE PIRELLI P ZERO NERO GT MAKES ITS DEBUT: AN ULTRA HIGH PERFORMANCE TYRE WITH MOTORSPORT IN ITS DNA

Milan, February 4, 2013 – Pirelli has presented the new premium P Zero Nero GT series, which expands and enhances the P Zero Nero range through new materials and an increased contact patch that together improve durability. The “Gran Turismo” designation indicates that the P Zero Nero GT has been created for aftermarket replacement on sports cars and saloons with medium to large engine capacity.
From February, Pirelli will distribute its new Ultra High Performance tyre all over the world, guaranteeing increased durability without affecting the driving pleasure, safety and performance traditionally associated with the P Zero Nero.
Taking the current P Zero Nero as a starting point, Pirelli’s engineers worked on the materials, tread pattern, contact patch and sizes available in just five months.
The result is the new P Zero Nero GT, which improves range by approximately 20% thanks to compounds with balanced silica content. This characteristic, which has also been obtained by optimising the tyre structure, is greatly appreciated by drivers of the latest generation performance cars.
The renewed range benefits from even better stability and roadholding as well, improving dry braking. The complete package ensures consistent driving comfort and contained noise levels throughout the entire life cycle of the tyre.
Pirelli’s Research and Development department also concentrated on increasing the sizes available, as well as performance. Over the course of the year the P Zero Nero GT range will expand to 60 sizes: 11 of which are brand new to equip cars that use 17, 18 and 19-inch wheels.
The P Zero Nero GT can be used as aftermarket replacement equipment on sporting versions of cars in the B and C segment, right up to larger saloons in the E segment. For example it is suitable for smaller models such as the Volkswagen Polo and Golf, as well as the Audi A3, and also larger models like the Volkswagen Passat, Opel Insignia, Volvo S60 and Mercedes C Class. The P Zero Nero GT can also be fitted to bigger vehicles such as the Audi A6 or Mercedes E Class.
