The Daiwoo Electronic Co. was founded in 1993 and is today a TS 16949-approved firm that is a major OE supplier of automotive infotainment head units to automakers in Taiwan. The company specializes in developing and making in-car head units, monitors, CMOS cameras, and other products.
The firm will introduce a new head unit for Ford Focus sedans at the 2013 Taipei Int’l Auto Parts & Accessories Show (TAIPEI AMPA). The integrated head unit has many features, including an 8-inch thin film transistor-liquid crystal display (TFT-LCD) monitor with 800×480 pixel resolution, single-disc DVD/VCD/MP3 player with NTSC/PAL formats compatibility, voice-control function, built-in HDTV receiver, built-in navigation system and operating interface, Bluetooth functionality for cellphones, expandability to head-cushion monitors for rear seats, USB slot for memory cards, and touch/button dual operating modes.
Daiwoo now supplies more than 20 multimedia infotainment systems for Ford, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Honda, and Toyota models. The firm claims that its core advantages lie in its long accumulation of experience and know-how gained through cooperation with automakers, as well as a strong in-house R&D capability.
