The Samsung Honda team completed a successful day of testing at Assen ahead of the British Superbike Championship debut at the circuit later in the season as Michael Laverty and Jon Kirkham now prepare for Brands Hatch next weekend (20-22 July).
The team crossed the Channel following last weekend’s Oulton Park event and spent a day on circuit in both wet and dry conditions as Laverty re-familiarised himself and Kirkham completed his first laps of the Dutch circuit.
Michael Laverty: “The circuit has changed since the last time I raced there but I got to grips with it really quickly and it only took a few laps to refresh myself. We were quite lucky really as we had both wet and dry conditions today and in both and we were able to set good lap times. We are looking forward to coming back in September even more now!”
Jon Kirkham: “It has been a really successful trip to Holland, it was my first time riding the track and it is absolutely awesome. It is different to what I am used to but I set myself a reasonable goal at the start of the day and we matched that so we will definitely be ready to roll when we come back here in September.”
Havier Beltran, Team manager: “It was a quick turnaround for the Samsung Honda team following the Oulton Park round and the boys have done a great job. We had the opportunity to test here today and it has been very productive for both riders at a fantastic circuit.”
