Today the world’s best will compete with each other for the London 2012 Shot Put medals and world title.

Shot Put is a game of skill and strength. Since beginning of mankind people have been in competition with one another to see who can throw a stone the furthest. “Shot Put” is the modern version of the age-old tradition to see who is the strongest and who can through a stone the furthest. In the modern stone hurl competition the ball is made up of a mix of lead and metal.

The metal Ball weights 16 pounds (7.25 kilograms) for the London 2012 Shot Put Olympic Men competition and the London 2012 Shot Put Olympics Woman ball weights 4 kilogram if you were wondering how much the Shot Put Ball weights.

The aim of the game is to see who can through the ball the furthest competitors take their throw from inside marked circle 2.135 metres (7.00 ft) in diameter, with a stop board approximately 10 centimeters (3.9 in) high at the front of the circle. The distance thrown is measured from the inside of the circumference of the circle to the nearest mark made in the ground by the falling shot.

In order to achieve a world record at the 2012 Olympics, contenders will need to through more than 22.63 meters for female athletes and male contenders need to achieve a distance greater than 23.12 meters.

In the London 2012 Shot Put Google doodle, there is an athlete preparing for his throw. The athlete is holding the ball against his neck, which forms part of the skill to the game. You will see that the field is marked with circles indicating distances. There is also two judges in the background ready to measure the athletes throw. In the background the worlds Google is visible, allowing the search engine to make sure the doodle is still recognizable as a Google Doodle.

The London 2012 Shot Put Google doodle is the first Google created for the sport and haven’t appeared in other Olympic.
