KTM TEAMS UP WITH TOP GEAR LIVE FOR WORLD RECORD ATTEMPT

KTM TEAMS UP WITH TOP GEAR LIVE FOR WORLD RECORD ATTEMPT

Double loop-the-loop on a 250 SX-F motocross bike-

KTM has teamed up with the fearless Top Gear Live Stunt Team in aiming to establish an astonishing World Record by completing the first double loop-the-loop on a motorbike at this week’s Top Gear Live show at Birmingham’s NEC (25-28 October).

In Durban, South Africa this summer, the daredevil team from the all-action Top Gear live show were the first to complete a double loop-the-loop in a car with its ‘Deadly 720′ stunt already being officially recognised as the First Double Loop by a Car’ by Guinness World Records.

Repeating this feat on a motorbike is even more technically challenging and daunting, so British fans will watch history as Deadly 720+ is performed for the first time at the NEC.

Austrian manufacturer KTM could never be described as boring and was very keen to get involved with such a project. Working closely with the stunt team, the light and punchy 250 SX-F four-stroke motocross machine was decided on. Along with recently scooping the British MX2 championship, this bike has dominated World Motocross with five consecutive MX2 titles.

The stunt will be attempted utilising a pair of eight metre tall steel loops and the 2013 250 SX-F is the same spec available from dealers, albeit with the standard suspension recalibrated to cope with the extreme demands.

The unnamed rider must travel at between 27mph and 29mph to avoid tumbling out of the loops or the possibility of blacking out. Only one factor is certain: the NEC crowds are going to be on the edge of their seats.

If all goes to plan, the history-making Deadly 720+ stunt will be one of the many highlights of nine action-packed Arena Shows staged over the four days at the NEC – all hosted by the three presenters of the hugely popular BBC TV show: Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May.

Show tickets are available from the official topgearlive.co.uk website or by calling 0871 230 5588. Adult admission prices start from just £49*. With many schools on half-term at the end of October, a ‘Kids Go Free’ promotion is available for accompanied children (aged between 5 and 15
years old) on Thursday and Friday, while special ‘Family Tickets’ are on offer for both Saturday and Sunday. Full details of all Top Gear Live tickets can be found on the topgearlive.co.uk website.
