Children’s Day Google Doodle in Japan
Today 5 May 2012 Google have announced Children’s Day in Japan with a Google Doodle. Children’s day is on the 5th day of the 5th month each year and is a public holiday in Japan. The day is a national holiday and set aside to respect children rights, personalities and to celebrate innocents and happiness of children. In 1948 the Japanese Government declared “Children’s Day” and announced it as a public holiday.
Originally the day were only for “Boys” but in recent years Children’s Day in Japan is now celebrated for both boys and girls. The Original Children’s day holiday were celebrated using the “Lunar Calendar” but and the day have varied from the “Gregorian Calendar” and is still celebrated in countries using the Chinese Calendar these include China, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Vietnam. However since Japan have switched to the Gregorian calendar it is now once every year on the 5th of May.
